HydraFacial™ treatment involves hydradermabrasion, a more advanced treatment to microdermabrasion, however there are differences:

Exfoliation process does not use any crystals.
A specially shaped spiral tip.
Vortex technology which aids exfoliation and remove impurities.
Pneumatically applied serums to cleanse hydrate and provide antioxidant infusion.

Hydradermabrasion is the technology behind HydraFacial. Introduced to the UK in 2009 as a more advanced treatment to microdermabrasion.

HydraFacial actively causes the skin to take up moisture during treatment. The HydraFacial has a special spiral tip with multiple edges to exfoliate the skin several times as the tip moves over the skin. Serums applied to the skin enable dead cells, sebum (skin’s oil) and impurities to be extracted.

HydraFacial philosophy is skin health for life™ and is therefore about lifestyle change requiring monthly hydrafacial treatments and a daily commitment to the application of home skin care products.

At Thames Skin Clinic we are committed to skin health and have a skin fitness program tailored to your personal skin needs.

HydraFacial treatment has 6 stages:

Detoxifying Lymphatic stage Gentle lymphatic massage techniques via a special suction hand-piece or finger tip drainage to increase blood circulation and detoxify, resulting in better overall skin.
Deep Cleanse & Exfoliation – Dead skin cells and impurities are gently lifted using the vortex suction for a deep-cleansing result.
Brightening Peel – Helps to loosen underlying debris within the pores by using a gentle glycolic and salicylic solution which helps to brightening your skin.
Extraction – Using Hydrafacial patented technology and vortex fusion combined with salicylic acid, suction is used to deeply extract blackheads and impurities.
LED STAGE LED application during which red, blue and/or infrared LED is applied to the Hydrafacial treated skin to aid rejuvenation and treat acne. We use our Dermalux LED flex within this stage at no extra cost, to give powerful results.
Hydrate & Protect – A combination of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and peptides replenish, plump and hydrate your skin.

At Thames Skin Clinic, we tailor the Hydrafacial to our patients concerns and include a complimentary booster serum within every treatment. One of the below is selected depending on your skin type:

You can also add on Hydrafacial PERK for lips or eyes to deeply condition these areas in particular.

The procedure

Following a consultation with one of our wonderful Thames Skin Therapists or your initial new patient consultation with Dr Hemming we will discuss your treatment goals and plan for your treatment. Thames Skin Clinic will check your medical history is suitable for treatment and you will sign a consent form. We record all of our patients photographs for comparison later.

If you have a history of cold sores an anti viral medication may be prescribed.

HydraFacial is used in combination with chemical peels, some skincare products, laser genesis and different types of tips if a more aggressive treatment is needed.

Your comfort levels and expectations are important factors which are considered in your consultation.

Treatment Areas

Treatment is a safe and effective way of improving your skin and making it more healthy.

HydraFacial is a mild treatment with subtle results including a freshening in the appearance and texture of skin.

Treatment improves

Used in combination with chemical peels and some skin products, LED therapy and options for different tips for more aggressive treatment.

HydraFacial is not suitable to treat deeper wrinkles, scars, deep hyperpigmentation or broken veins in the skin.

Side effects

Side effects are minimal if any.

Treatment is painless and doesn’t irritated the skin greatly. A few patients may experience slight tightness and redness of the skin which can last for a couple of hours. Treatments using peel products may prolong redness.

On very rare occasions redness may continue for a day or so and sensitive skin around the eyes can become swollen, a cold compress will help should this side effect occur.

The risk of scarring is very rare with this procedure.

Treatment is not suitable if you

are taking Roaccutane or oral isotretinoin within the last 12 months,
have active skin infection, cold sores
have problems with skin healing or lymphatic drainage.

Please discuss any current medication with the doctor, especially if you are taking aspirin on Ibuprofen. Medication may need to be stopped before treatment.

Aftercare

Use any post-treatment skincare products provided and ensure you have a good quality sun screen to protect your skin.

HydraFacial treatments vary by the area and prodcuts given to achieve the best results. We often get asked about the cost of treatment. At Thames Skin Clinic we pride ourselves on results rather than focus on the price of a treatment, it is more important that we get the correct quality of product rather than offer cut price treatments, products and services (especially when it comes to medical treatments). You will never see Thames Skin Clinic advertising services on social coupon sites such as Groupon as we believe they have a negative impact on our customer safety, results and satisfaction. I’ve been visiting Doctor Anna for over a year to revitalise my skin with topical treatments. I really trust Dr Anna Hemming

I have been coming to Dr Anna Hemming for wrinkle treatment for the past 4 years. I’m always happy with the fresher natural look she gives me. Friends have been surprised when I tell them I haven’t been on holiday and that my rested look is actually wrinkle treatment. I really trust Dr Hemming to do the best for me and feel safe in her experienced medically qualified hands. So, now she has opened a fabulous new clinic I’m venturing to other treatments. I started to develop skin issues around my eyelid area. Having been to see two other dermatologists who were unable to assist due to the delicate and sensitive area around the eyes, it was a welcome relief for Dr Anna Hemming to be recommended to me. Clearer skin at last!

I look younger!

I received Fractora treatment now 3 weeks ago from Dr Hemming. There has been a slow healing and gradually I see myself less tired looking and my lines have noticeably reduced . The beginnings of a jowel I had along my jawline has disappeared which is exactly the part of my face that bothered me most. It seems as if I’ve had a face lift! My skin is firmer and the hollows less deep. I dare say I look younger.

Go, you will not be disappointed.

I have recently moved to Barnes and was searching for someone that could deliver wrinkle injections on my skin but I wanted someone reputable, Doctor led, and that didn’t over do my face as I don’t want it to look like I have treatments. I had my appointment with Anna, the lovely lady that owns this clinic and what a brilliant experience it was for me. I knew my end result would be exactly what I was after. I shall be back, for other treatments because I feel I’m in safe hands and you all know what you’re talking about. No I know why Anna has such a great reputation within the industry. She is not only a wealth of knowledge when it comes to skin but I feel at ease and taken care of in her beautifully designed clinic in Twickenham. Go, you will not be disappointed.

Dr Anna and her team are professional

I’ve had the pleasure of going to Dr Anna for a few years now and was delighted when she opened The Thames Skin Clinic as so close to where I live. The space is gorgeous and bright so perfect for any treatments you may require! I’ve been used to, in the past to going into these darkened rooms where they surely can’t treat you properly. Dr Anna and her team are professional and friendly in the right measure and make you feel at ease and confident that you’ll walk out of there looking and feeling a million dollars!!
