Treatment may not suitable if you are having immune therapy or undergoing cancer treatment.
Thames Skin Clinic chooses the brands of filler we stock and use very carefully to ensure our clients get the best possible results using the safest and most comfortable product. The types of filler we stock are Teosyal by Teoxane, Ellanse, Juvederm premium vycross range and Belotero. All these filler brands have their own specific strengths which Dr Hemming has an in depth knowledge and understanding. Teosyal fillers are specifically designed for extremely mobile areas such as the mouth and cheek. Ellanse is our only non hyaluronic acid filler with unique properties to boost collagen as well as create volume. Restylane and Juvederm vycross is Juvederms premium range of filler and designed to last longer, they both have an excellent reputation and safety profile.
All of our dermal filler treatments are carried out by our hugely talented and experienced cosmetic specialist and founder of Thames Skin Clinic, Dr Anna Hemming. She has a very naturally trained eye and expert level of understanding about the ageing process and need for volume replacement and beautification. Using extremely precise placement of dermal filler volume she is able to construct, lift and contour so naturally it can be difficult to tell you have had a treatment. Her aim is to create natural younger looking and rejuvenated appearance so you look like a younger version of yourself.
Dermal fillers are injected by needle or cannula to the correct position by a fully qualified medical doctor with extensive training to give you a natural subtle treatment replacing volume which has been depleted and returning proportion and symmetry to the face. It is important to see a medically qualified practitioner for this treatment to ensure the safe injection and management of results.
Skin differs in its thickness and texture from one area to another. Different fillers are suitable for particular areas depending on the depth of the filler required to correct the volume loss or skin hydration.
There are two main types of dermal filler, made from hyaluronic acid or a collagen stimulator.
- Hyaluronic acid fillers are a versatile treatment that smooths fine lines and wrinkles, restoring volume and contours to the face. Hyaluronic acid lives in all living organisms and also encourages collagen and elastin stimulation. Treatment results are seen immediately after injection and last until your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid product.
- Collagen stimulators are not made from hyaluronic acid, but products that stimulate in a different way. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein found in your skin and body where it plays a key role, providing support and structure. As we age, we produce less collagen, leading to visible signs of ageing. Ellansé is a collagen stimulating filler that provides immediate volumisation followed by long-term collagen stimulation. The volumisation and correction of wrinkles is seen immediately after treatment, following which gradual stimulation of your own collagen production gives natural-looking and long-lasting result.
All our dermal fillers treatments are performed by Dr Hemming who is extremely experienced in aesthetic injectable techniques.
You should expect some minor discomfort or tenderness initially, this settles very quickly. We use local anaesthetic to help numb some treatment areas.
Serious side effects are minimal, if any. Treatment site tenderness may occur. Your skin will have an immediate tightening effect and the plasma will show as little sterile dots on the skin. These heal as your skin tightens more.
It should not to be used if pregnant or breast feeding as we have no research to prove it is safe for your foetus or child.
Care must be taken if diagnosed with neurological or bleeding disorders, currently suffering with a skin infection or allergy or taking particular medication. Your specialist will be able to advise you further.
Please discuss any current medication with the doctor, especially if you are taking aspirin on Ibuprofen. Medication may need to be stopped before treatment.
After dermal filler rhinoplasty treatment there can be some redness and swelling and possibly some bruising. This is normal after treatment and can last a few days to 2 weeks.
Fillers are made from a clear non animal based hyaluronic acid gel injected under the skin to bind water and encourage collaged regrowth. These have low allergy rates and means your treatment can go ahead without a patch test on your first visit.
The filler is injected through a fine sterile needle or cannula into the area where volume loss has occurred.
Treatment can cause mild discomfort over a few seconds. I prefer fillers to contain a local anaesthetic as it ensures a more comfortable procedure.
Effects can be seen immediately and the complete effect in 2 weeks.
Treatment lasts for 6-18 months.
Your comfort levels and expectations are important factors which are considered in your consultation.
Treatment is a safe and effective way of replacing lost volume, lifting and hydrating tired lined skin. Treatments enhance, define, lift and recontour areas where bone and fat changes have altered the facial structure. A combination approach gives the best natural results.

Dermal filler treatments vary by both volume and type of filler used to give the best results. We often get asked about the cost of treatment. At Thames Skin Clinic we pride ourselves on results rather than focus on the price of a treatment, it is more important that we get the correct quality of product rather than offer cut price treatments, products and services (especially when it comes to medical treatments). You will never see Thames Skin Clinic advertising services on social coupon sites such as Groupon as we believe they have a negative impact on our customer safety, results and satisfaction. We also wish to abide by the advertising regulator and work in a safe ethical manor.
Our prices reflect the skill, training and premier product choices we have made as well as the true reflection of the beautiful bespoke clinic surroundings.
